Let's Answer Your Questions.......

What is Kombucha?

Kombucha is a refreshing, healthful, living enzyme beverage traditionally made with tea and sugar.

What are the benefits of drinking Kombucha tea?

Kombucha tea has been widely touted to strengthen the immune system by balancing the metabolism and enhancing detoxification through the liver. Kombucha tea is also effective in facilitating the digestive process and improves your: liver function, immune system, body alkalinity, respiratory system , and circulation. Its also been reported to provide increased energy, decreased appetite, and healthier skin and hair.*

Where does Kombucha come from?

The origin of Kombucha is mysterious. However, as far back as the Chinese Tsin Dynasty in 221 BC, a beverage made from tea and sugar was revered as "K'un Pa Chu'a, a tea like wine," and was reputed to have near-magical healing powers.

Is there a lot of caffeine in the Kombucha beverage?

Surprisingly, the completed Kombucha tea does not have much caffeine because during the creation process, the Kombucha "mushroom" consumes it as a nutrient.

Why sugar, isn't that a bad thing?

Again, as in caffeine, sugar is a nutrient source which Kombucha transforms into a powerhouse of beneficial nutrients like vitamins, enzymes, beneficial organic acids and antioxidants.

Why is it called a mushroom when it grows in tea?

The Kombucha "mushroom" is actually a symbiotic association of yeast and other beneficial organisms that forms itself into a pancake shape which floats on the surface of the tea. The yeast in Kombucha is different from the harmful Candida Yeast. It is much like other fermented products such as yogurt; Kombucha tea can help to re-balance intestinal micro-flora.

Because Kombucha tea is fermented, does it have alcohol in it like wine or beer?

Unlike the fermentations used in wine or beer, the Kombucha mushroom must have air to live and grow.  Only a very small amount of alcohol is produced in this aerobic process.  Kombucha tea has less than 1/2%  of alcohol which is suitable for all ages.
